A Student Design & Develop Project
Scope: Redesign GROK conference website with a UX/UI focus. Design and edit content to encourage registration.I decided on a long, scrolling page to fit with the modern, clean feel of the conference. Research determined the most common and useful order of the site's sections, and I added images to each to convey the quirky feel of the conference. This project was developed on a baseline grid so the design flows smoothly even in columns.
The term GROK, as explained on the site, comes from a Robert Heinlein book about a human raised on Mars and returned to earth. As a shout-out to that origin, and as a bit of delight at the footer, I designed and coded a cityscape of Greenville with a UFO dropping off a person. I used jQuery to determine when and how much to adjust to position of that section so that the UFO would descend as the page scrolled.
